Mo’na – College & Career

cheapest place to buy doxycycline tablets MO’NA – the Chamoru word meaning to be in front, “Mentoring Our Next Achievers” is the name of the newest FREE program offered by Kutturan Chamoru Foundation since 2011. Little did we realize that KCF’s founders had been planting the seeds for this program since inception in 1993 through performances at various Universities, Colleges and scholarship fundraisers for Pacific Islanders.

In solidifying MO’NA, we knew that once our participants graduated from high school, KCF had a responsibility to help them gain the tools and knowledge to continue to be successful in the next level of their lives. We knew that if KCF continued to guide participants to higher education and career counseling, they would have the ability to contribute successfully to our community through cultural preservation and be at the forefront of their future.

MO’NA advisors, Joey Quenga, Keith Castro, Art Medina (CSULB) and Dr. Keith Camacho (UCLA) arranged for campus tours, in depth financial aid, academic requirements and scholarship information where hands-on workshops were conducted and provided by fellow Pacific Islander students and advisors. Some of these institutes of higher education include: University of Southern California (USC), University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), San Francisco State University (SFSU), California State University Long Beach (CSULB), California State University Fullerton (CSUF), Arizona State University (ASU) and University of Washington (UW).

MO’NA continues to provide University tours, financial aid workshops, career counseling and scholarship information. MO’NA looks to the future with a renewed commitment to further strengthening its community foundation and cultural structure such that it will effectively expand and empower Pacific Islanders to become global leaders of tomorrow.
